This month’s student: Dan Goldberg

Dan Goldberg is a New York City-based amateur photographer primarily focused on travel photography and astrophotography. His work has been exhibited in two PhotoUno gallery shows, including the series India at Worship, which highlights religious practices at three Indian holy sites, and Dinner, Raw and Cooked, which captured food before and after cooking using single, long exposures.

Dan shoots most of his astrophotography from his rooftop in Upper Manhattan, despite the severe light pollution. He images nebulas, planets, star clusters, and galaxies, among other astronomical objects. He is also an operator for remote telescopes in Texas and Chile through the Amateur Astronomers Association’s (AAA) Gateway Remote Telescope program, as featured in the May 2026 issue of Sky & Telescope magazine.

Dan bought his first camera in 2016 and his first telescope in 2024. He has visited 50 countries, but so far, only one planet.

Who it’s for

Current and former PhotoUno students, anyone thinking about taking a class, and anyone who loves seeing what a few years of practice can do.
